The peacock bass fishing has been out of this world.  The peacocks preferred livebait and that’s how  Marlon caught his.

Peacock Bass Fishing in Miami can also provide Big Tarpon

September 11, 2009 had the pleasure of taking out Gil Phillippi. He was a referral from one of our many repeat customers, we like to thank everyone who sends us new customers. Customer giving referrals are highly appreciated and means a lot to us that we are doing a good job and putting the right effort in to them all.

Gil was after the exotic hard fighting Peacock Bass that are only in South Florida area for the United States. Gil wanted to throw artificial baits all day, we started off with topwater plugs. His first catch was a nice snook that just “exploded” on his bait. Gil caught a nice two pound peacock off topwater and as day went on we went to throwing sub surface lures.

The mid afternoon was slow, but things picked up near the end of day. He caught about twelve peacocks and a nice tarpon on light tackle, 10lb test!.

The thing about Miami you just never know what your going to catch! Its an awesome urban fishery locate close to everything.

Florida Peacock bass, the start of 3 days

Mike Juneau and his son Mike Jr. from Denham Springs, LA decided to take on our three day variety pack trip once they know they were coming down to South Florida and were looking forward to getting in some Florida bass fishing. It was a planned trip for Mike Jr’s graduation and a present from Dad.

The first day they selected to start there fishing adventure down in Miami area for the mighty Florida peacock bass. They started off throwing top water with a couple of hook ups right away. The first strike of the day being a snook, overall it turned out to be another great day of peacock fishing with action getting better as the day went on. They ended up around 25peacock bass for the day and were all geared up for day two on Lake Okeechobee.

Lake Ida Fishing Report 5-20-2008

Today I fished Lake Ida area with Gene & Neil from Wellington, Fl which seen my new article on Fly Fishing for Florida Peacock bass in the May 2008 Florida Sportsman magazine.

So, after they read the article we had full intentions of fly fishing for the peacock bass with some of the new techniques that were written about. As always, weather (high winds) are never predictable and today it left us with very few options to choice from. Even so we started with the flies and rapidly realized it wasn’t going to work and pulled out the spinning gear.

We then switch to topwater lures and even live bait in some cases to provoke the bite. All said in done, we caught around 10 peacock bass that ranged from 1-1/2lbs up to 5lbs.

Mother nature didn’t provide the day we were looking for, but Gene & Neil scheduled a new trip next month to fish the Florida Everglades while fly fishing for trophy largemouth bass.
